SPONSOR CATS
We often have cats that are difficult to home due to their age, temperament or medical condition. These cats are able to spend their lives at the Adoption Centre due to donations and sponsorship. We would like to introduce you to a few of the cats who live with us.

My name is Tigger. I have not been
able to find a home because embarrassingly I have a problem with my water
works. I am a very loving cat and enjoy being cuddled and brushed by all
the helpers at the adoption centre. I need medication and am likely to be
at the centre for some time. I desperately need sponsors to help pay for
my treatment. Please will you sponsor me so I can continue to receive the
help and care I need

Socks was born outside last autumn with her sister. She was brought in to the adoption centre first so I took her home with me for what I thought was a couple of weeks at the most to socialise her. However it soon became apparent that she was no normal kitten. Her eyes bulged and she could not run around like other kittens. She was also not the feisty un-socialised creature that I had expected! Her mum arrived at the adoption centre and was later spayed and re-homed but her sister had to go straight to the vets with fly strike. She recovered and was kept by a relative of the lady that rescued them. I have since spoken to her and she appears to have similar disabilities to Socks. It is thought that they were both deprived of essential nutrients in the womb and did not develop normally. It cannot be predicted what the future holds for her therefore it has been decided to have her permanently fostered and her bills paid for by sponsorship. Although she does not have the agility of a normal cat she can get around fairly well. As she cannot lift her head very well she can look around by standing on her back legs (like a squirrel). She uses the litter tray every time and has a very sweet nature. Her growth has been very slow which makes her appear much younger than she is. She only goes out in the garden accompanied but is very nervous unless on a lap or snuggling into my neck! My 3 cats have accepted that she is no longer just passing through and on the whole ignore her although George will wash her from time to time which she thinks is a real treat!

Should you decide to sponsor one of our cats you will receive photographs and news of your sponsor cat twice yearly.
New
to the sponsoring scheme, we have introduced a sponsored pen, to be known as
Carol’s Pen.
For
those that are new to the Adoption Centre, Carol was one of our Managers who sadly
passed away in June 2000. Carol had an exceptional gift with all cats, but in
particular with ferals. Her patience and understanding meant that many ferals
who would otherwise be un-homeable, became loving and affectionate house cats.
Carol’s Pen is set on it’s own amongst the trees and is generally used for cats who require a quiet environment or long term care. If you should decide to become a sponsor of Carol's pen we will send you a certificate and twice yearly you will receive details (and where possible pictures!) of the cats your sponsorship has helped to care for.
If you would like further details of our sponsorship schemes please contact the Adoption Centre on 01245 478389 or email your name and address to karen@jennings81.freeserve.co.uk.
